FAQ:
How
much does creating a custom charm cost?
Ellie Lance Creations requires a
$350 deposit to get started on your design.
The cost of creating a custom charm varies depending upon
the complexity and size of the design.
The AVERAGE
cost for art, set up and mold fees range from $350
- $500. That
deposit will be applied to the initial fees. The art, set up and
mold fees are a “one time” charge and are never paid again
as long as the same charm is reordered.
What metal
can I create a piece in?
We work mainly in
sterling silver, but we can create your piece in pewter,
14kt and 14kt overlay.
After
the initial fees, how much does a finished charm cost? The price of a charm depends upon its design and gram weight. We
can usually give an estimate, but until the charm is cast for
the first time we don't know the exact price. Most are
usually between $6
and $10 depending upon the price of silver at the time of
casting.
How
soon can I get a custom charm made?
You need to allow at least 6-8 weeks
from the time you pay the $300 deposit until you have a sample
to view. Sometimes things can go faster, but it is
safer not to push the deadline! The more lead time the
better!
Do
I get to approve the design before a sample is made? Yes, we will fax or email a copy of the artist's drawing before we
have a wax and mold made and actually cast a sample. You
will approve the drawing, and wax before we make a mold.
Will
I get to see a sample of the charm before I have to place the
minimum order?
Yes, we will send a sample for you to preview.
Is
there a minimum order?
Not really, but it usually requires 6-8 pieces depending
on the size of the piece, to make a sample.
How
long does it take to receive re-ordered charms? Please allow 2-3 weeks for re-ordered of sterling silver charms
and 3-5 weeks if we are enameling or adding crystals.
So I
have a custom charm made, will I have to pay the art/setup/mold
fees again to have a pewter key fob and/or zipper pull made
also? Unfortunately, yes,
because the process for making a silver charm and a pewter key
fob is different. They both require molds.
